Tanja Liedtke Fellowship 2022 in Berlin

Joel Small at the adaStudio

The ada Studio's cooperation with the Tanja Liedtke Foundation enters its tenth year this summer! Together we have survived the time of the pandemic - we are very grateful for that!
The now fifth Tanja-Liedtke scholarship holder is Joel Small. He will use the three-week residency at the ada Studio to do research for his project TRANSITIONS. Joel writes about his research, "TRANSITIONS is a personal story. It is about the process and discovery of my fluid gender identity. The idea for TRANSITIONS came to me almost two years ago - a year after I discovered drag. In celebration of drag culture, I want to tell this story in a theatrical way, with the aim of bridging the gap between drag culture and contemporary dance theatre."

On 12 August 2022, Joel Small invites you to an open rehearsal as part of "reinkommen" at ada Studio.
All information is available on adaStudio Homepage
Entry is free. Reservations via ticket@ada-studio.de

From 14 August 2022, 10 a.m., to 17 August 2022, 11.59 p.m., "reinkommen" will also be available as a video stream on the ada Studio homepage.

Joel said about the Fellowship at this stage of the development of his work:

"Sharing my rehearsal run through with the Tanja Liedke Foundation was an honor. It helped to remind me that the piece Transitions is always in Transition. Today it existed as it did, tomorrow we hope it will continue to evolve."

Choreography Competition Hannover Nr. 36

Production award from the Tanja Liedtke Foundation at Staatstheater Hannover

Giovanni Visone is the winner of the Production Award with his work “32GG”
The Award includes a 15 minute choreography at the side of Artistic Director of the Hannover Staatsoper, Marco Goecke and the dancers of the Staatsoper. We wish Giovanni well for his production.

Giovanni wrote us a little note:

"Every year, thanks to these realities, a young choreographer gets a concrete help
for all what a new creation needs.
Still can’t believe that this opportunity has been given to me.
It would be for me a first real big production, the chance to be assisted by a full
team from the beginning until the realisation of my idea.
It means a giant step in my career as choreographer and couldn’t imagine a better
place where this could happen as I had the pleasure to call “home” the Staatsoper
Hannover for the past 6 years.
I truly appreciate the help given to the young choreographers and I can’t thank
enough Marco Goecke for trusting me and of course the Tanja Liedtke Foundation
for making all this possible."

Professor Dieter Heitkamp, David McMillan

Professor Dieter Heitkamp is leaving the HfMDK and follows new artistic paths

We look back with gratitude on over 10 years of fruitful collaboration with Professor Dieter Heitkamp for the HfMDK and the Tanja Liedtke Foundation. During his work with the students, he inspired them to grow artistically and with great commitment selected the young people among them to be supported by us. At a farewell performance, he and the students performed an excerpt from construct. We thank Dieter and wish him all the best for his next step in his artistic life.
